AVAILABLE POSITIONS 09'-10'

 


Academic Instructors/ Homework Mentors

Responsibilities:
o Help provide snack and assist students at recess
o Assist groups of 15-20 students with homework and/or teach academic lessons
o Provide lesson plans which align with the school day program (Academic
Instructors ONLY)
o Work to boost confidence and self-esteem
o Attend all trainings and monthly staff meetings
o Communicate with teachers and parents when necessary

Qualifications:
- Experience tutoring students in reading and/or math
- Must be dedicated and able to commit for the entire school year
- Effective classroom management skills
- Reliable transportation and/or access to public transportation a must!
- Reimbursed-TB test and Fingerprinting REQUIRED
- Access to college transcripts or take a certification test if 48 college semester units
haven't been achieved

Start Date: ASAP
End Date: June 18, 2010
You will have school vacations off (unpaid)
Grades: Kindergarten-5th
Pay Range: $12.50-$15/hour
Possible Hours: M/T/Th/F 2:00pm-6:00pm, W 1:00pm-6:00pm
(Hours vary depending on site)

Program Substitutes

Responsibilities vary depending on positions and can include:

-Supervise snack time
-Assist students with homework
-Supervise students at recess
-Teach academic and enrichment lessons
-Work to boost confidence and self-esteem

Commitment:
o Easily accessible by phone and email
o Dedicated and able to commit for the entire school year
o Have a positive attitude and the desire to make a difference in the lives of children
o Be a team player/leader among peers and co-workers
o Have reliable transportation
o Provide a negative TB test within the last four years and fingerprint clearance
o Provide official college transcripts or take an IA certification test

Start Date: ASAP
End Date: June 18, 2010
